OK so I found this site:

And just skipped down to the part about terminal. I have two macbooks with broken DVD drives and needed to have them install software from my MacBook Pro DVD drive. So from the MacBooks I just entered the two terminal commands and rebooted.
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser EnableODiskBrowsing -bool true
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser ODSSupported -bool true
