In VMware Fusion (Mac) hold the ‘option’ key down before you click on Virtual Machine and you will see ‘Power Off’ instead of ‘Shutdown Guest’…
Comes in handy when you have a Windows box that hangs on the ‘Windows is shutting down’ screen.
