I was kicking myself trying to get the permalinks fixed and what do you know, someone already had this issue with WordPress and Godaddy.com

The short answer is:Set your permalinks in the settings/permalinks page and then wait an hour for the backend to catch up. Not sure what the wait is for but it worked.
