Myth-Tivo

January 28th, 2004 · No Comments

Yes, for those that have been following my at-home projects, I have a new gadget in the house.  MythTV is a “do-it-yourself” PVR.  I have been trying to get rid of my recurring Tivo charge that I have been paying for the last 3 years.  It seems that I can hack the Tivo to get guide data from XMLTV and still use the Tivo hardware with my MythTV environment.

Check this out:

http://tivo-mplayer.sourceforge.net/mythtivo.html

I haven’t got it working yet but this seems to be a good way to off-load some of the workload from the backend Myth box by having the Tivo record it while still being able to view the content from the MythTV boxes throughout the house. J
